Katha celebrates the joy of reading week
31st August – 9th September 2010
To celebrate 22 years of Katha’s engagement in the field of education, equity and poverty alleviation and the successful completion of two years into the innovative ‘I Love Reading Campaign’ which has brought 100,000 children in Government and MCD schools to reading at grade level and for fun, Katha is rejoicing the success of all the children and their communities during the Joy of Reading Week from Aug 31 to Sept 9, 2010.
The series of events planned during this week are a part of colloquia that Katha is organizing through the year to look at issues of access to quality education for children living in urban slums, and to see how urban poverty can be tackled through a seamless education that links pre-school to K-12 to college.

WHOSE EDUCATION IS IT ANYWAY? is the thought provoking topic for discussion as teachers and students from MCD and private schools gather together to debate the Right to Education.
9:30 am – 11:30 pm: Whose Education Is It Anyway? Students Debate
12:00 pm: Katha Student Librarian Awards
2:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Whose Education Is It Anyway? Teachers Debate
4:30 pm: Tea followed by the Katha Reading Teachers Awards.
